2.2 How to Avoid Plagiarism?

Tips for avoiding plagiarism:

Use your own ideas. It's your paper and your ideas should be the focus. Use other people's works only to support and reinforce your ideas.

Record complete citation information for each source you use:
- Title of book (and book chapter if applicable), or title of article & journal it was published in;
- Author(s);
- Page number(s);
- Year of publication, volume and issue number (journal articles);
- Database / URL of Webpage + retrieval date [electronic resources]

Use quotation marks when directly stating another person's words or ideas.
