The Library subscribes to more than 170 reference, citation, full-text or full-image electronic databases. They are available at the Library Website and can be accessed remotely 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any location. The Library subscribes to m ore than 20,000 e-journals with full text and searchable interface, covering subject areas from arts and humanities to science and technology. Prominent e-journals include Cambridge Journals Online and China Academic Journals. Online reference tools such as Britannica Online, Oxford English Dictionary and Oxford Reference Online are available at the Library Website. WiseNews provides access to the full text of more than 700 news sources from HK, Macau, China, Taiwan and other countries. The Library subscribes to several sets of e-books such as Gale Virtual Reference Library, SpringerLink e-Books, Books 24x 7 and Apabi Chinese e-Books, allowing users to access them via the web 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Library's Digital Repository provides full text images of the Institute's examination papers, education-related news clippings and Institute archives, e.g. programme prospectus & handbooks, institutional publications, staff publications, student publications, curriculum materials and internal documents. EdVideo is a video-on-demand service which features education related issues and current affairs programmes from ATV, ETV, RTHK and TVB. Online English Course (NetLanguages IELTS) This online learning platform provides courses on general English as well as modules on IELTS preparation. EdSEARCH provides a metasearch platform which streamlines the discovery process by presenting users with contents from multiple information providers (e.g. library catalogue, e-databases, e-journals and other e-resources) on one single and clear search interface. It is seamlessly integrated with EdLINK and enables users to find information they need quickly and effectively. This is an integrated e-resources linking service linking full-text articles from more than 10,000 e-journals subscribed by the Library. It also allows users to search in one EdLINK-enabled database and get results from all related library e-resources. This interface facilitates the retrieval of journal articles. Through Citation Linker, users can locate full text article from the Library’s e-databases by inputting citation information such as article title, journal title, volume and issue. This is an alert service based on selected categories of education-related subjects, generated from the Academic Search Premier and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses databases subscribed by the Library. |
